Defiance Safe Co. commenced its operations in West Heidelberg Victoria in about 1995, supplying the Defiance Safes and Defiance Fire Resisting filing cabinets along with the Defiance Data Safes and Rotary Hopper style Deposit safes. Defiance Safe Co Safes and Filing Cabinets are tested and accredited to world accepted standards for resistance to fire, structural collapse and seepage of water, steam and smoke. Some of these accredited tests included the U.L Underwriters Laboratories Inc (USA), J.I.S Japanese industrial standards, K.S. Korean industrial standard, S.P Swedish national testing and research institute, and VDMA German fire test standards. Defiance Safe Co supplies fire resisting safes and filing cabinets offering a range of fire protection from 1 hour to 2 hour. These particular models have been specially designed to limit internal temperature and humidity during a fire so that vital documents are protected.
The Defiance Safe range in the early years of operation included Defiance fire resistant containers, Defiance filing cabinets, Defiance data safes, Defiance Rotary Hopper safes, Defiance wall safes, Defiance floor safes, and Defiance depository safes. Most of these safes supplied were available in 3 locking models including key locking, combination dial locking, and electronic digital locking.
Apart from the certified testing of the Defiance Safe products, other features and benefits were secure locking supported by internal anti pry hinge bolt protection, re-locking device which activated should the lock be attacked, changeable electronic or combination locking and adjustable shelving.

The Defiance Safe “ESD” Electronic Range
Models 101 through to 108 were available with electronic opening with the 105,106 and 108 having a 2hour fire rating, while models 101 through to 104A were all 1hour fire rated. Models 101 through to 108 are available in key & combination operation and just like the electronic safe range models 105 through to 108, in this range are 2hour fire rated while models 101 through to SD104A are all 1hour fire rated.
The Defiance Safe “SD” Key & Combination Range
The Defiance Safe Co SD series was a 4 wheel combination lock on the 2hour SD range. standard features included an anti-intrusion 4 way locking bolt system and re-locking device in case of tampering and models 106 and 108 had a internal lockable draw.
Defiance Safe Co Fire Resisting Filing Cabinet Safes
There were 3 locking models in this range at the time and all featured a 3 wheel changeable combination lock on the top drawer only, also supported by a key lock. All other drawers had individual locks with separate keys which was ideal if you want seperate users off each draw. This Defiance fire resistant filing cabinet safes offered 1 hour fire rating and came in either 2, 3, or 4 drawer versions, and they were manufactured with wheels that run parallel. The Defiance Fire Rated Filing Cabinet models at the time were BF680-2 Drawer, BF680-3 Drawer and the BF680-4 Drawer.
Defiance Data Safes
The Defiance Data Safe was specifically designed to protect magnetic media. There were 3 models at the time, they were all fitted with a multi-layer inner box made of special anti-thermal materials. This construction blocked out heat, smoke, dust and steam, and the special fire seal around the inner door caused a tight vacuum seal when closed. The Defiance fire resisting containers for the protection of magnetic media or as there known Defiance Data Safes models at the time were D125D, D530D and D070D.

Defiance Wall Safes
The 3 model wall safes known at the time were the BW230, BW320 and BW365. They all had a 14mm diameter locking bar, and the 2 larger models had a removable shelf set in the middle of the wall safe.
Defiance In-Floor Safe
There was only one Defiance in-floor safe known at the time as B15, it was constructed of 5mm steel plate and had a 3 wheel combination dial lock as well as a re-locker, and a 3 way locking bar system of 21mm radius bolts.
Defiance Depository Safes
These 3 model deposit safes were known at the time: RH20, MS1-K and MS2-K.
The Defiance Rotary Hopper Safe was constructed on a 5mm steel plate. They were specifically designed for depositing cash in retail outlets where cash registers needed to be emptied on a regular basis. The RH20 offered a rotary hopper in the top of the safe to allow cash deposits drops then by rotating the top handle the contents drop into the safe. The MS1-K and MS2-K were a unique deposit safe that offered a 2 key being two separate keys locking systems.
